Jatin, bowlers guide J&K to resounding win over Haryana

JAMMU, Jan 13: Power-packed innings of unbeaten 70 runs off 61 balls by promising batsman Jatin Wadhawan, coupled with 12-ball 20 by explosive Manzoor Dar (Pandov) and extraordinary display of bowling skills by almost all the bowlers, guided Jammu and Kashmir to resounding 4-wicket win over formidable Haryana in the ongoing North Zone leg of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized under the auspices of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.
According to the reports reaching here, J&K won the toss and put Haryana into bat.
Batting first, Haryana were bundled out for a modest total of 116 runs as almost all the Jammu and Kashmir bowlers bowled with nagging line & teasing length and hit good areas from the word go. Harshal Patel top scored for Haryana with 28 off 23 balls including 6 boundaries, while skipper Amit Mishra and Prashant Kumar contributed 19 runs each to the total. For J&K, speedster Umar Nazir and leg-spinner Manik Gupta scalped 3 wickets each by conceding 16 and 26 runs in 3.2 and 4 overs respectively, while off-spinner Parvez Rasool took 2 wickets by giving away 17 runs in his 4 overs and speedster Mohd Mudhasir claimed 1 wicket by spending 26 runs in his 4 overs.
In reply, J&K rode on Jatin Wadhawan’s quick-fire 70 runs, studded with 3 fours and 5 massive sixes to chase the target in 18.4 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets. He was well supported by powerful Manzoor Dar (20), who along with Waseem Raza (13 off 20 balls) played their role when it mattered the most in taking J&K to home. However, it was Jatin, who stole the show by sending the rival bowlers on a leather hunt with utmost ease and comfort, hitting them with awe-inspiring grace, fluidity and utter-brilliance. His counter attack against thus far lethal Amit Mishra was really a delight to watch. He clobbered Mishra for a six and a four in his third over after he had conceded just 4 runs in his 2 overs by taking 2 important wickets.
For Haryana, Amit Mishra and Harshal Patel took 2 wickets each by giving away 29 and 18 runs in their 4 overs respectively.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Imraj Thakur as manager and Vijay Sharma as coach, while Dr Ajaz Chillu, Pawan Kumar Sharma and Mushtaq Ahmed Rather are physio, trainer and fielding coach respectively.
The team has been selected by the senior selection committee of JKCA including Ashwani Gupta (Chairman), Zahoor Bhat, Vivek Sharma, Arshid Bhat. Pradeep Bali and Parvez Rasool (Captain/Member).
