JAMMU, Jan 23: To lodge protest against not calling him earlier for speaking over Discussion on Demand of Grant of R&B and Parliamentary Affairs in the Legislative Assembly, BJP MLA from Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia, today staged a walkout from the House.
Even as Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi, who was in the chair, sought to convenience the MLA that he called the members for speaking on the Grants, as per the list provided to him by the BJP chief whip, Jasrotia left the House in a huff.
“On health grounds, I had sought listing my turn earlier but this is very disappointing that other members are being given priority over me. This has deeply hurt me and I have no option other than to leave the House,” Jasrotia said and staged a walkout despite repeated calls by the Deputy Speaker asking him to stay back.
The MLA returned to the House after some time only after the Deputy Speaker asked BJP MLA Ravinder Raina to convince the former while NC MLA Devinder Rana also informed the Chair that he had met Rajiv Jasrotia, who was very upset over change in the list of Speakers.
Later, talking to the Excelsior, BJP Chief Whip    Rajesh Gupta explained that he had listed Rajiv Jasrotia’s name on priority but some changes were made at later stage after the party MLAs Devinder Manyal and Sat Sharma sought prior time from the   Speaker in view of their other engagements.
