KATHUA, Dec 8 : Maintaining that better road communication plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of the people of an area, MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia today said that the Government has formulated a comprehensive plan to provide improved road connectivity to the people of the State especially living in rural and border areas.
The MLA was addressing a well-attended gathering in Kathua constituency after kick-starting the work of blacktopping on road from Rajbagh to Jasrota Rakh Hoshiyari  costing Rs 30 lakh and other surrounding areas costing approximately Rs 20 lakh along with Executive Engineer, PWD, AEE PWD, Daljeet Singh of Gurdwara Prabandhak Board, JP Singh, Gyan Singh, Lovely Singh, Jagdish Poonia, Suresh, Kulwant Singh besides prominent persons of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that the improved road connectivity enhances accessibility, mobility and   promotes economic activities. He said that a plan   has been framed to provide well-knit road connectivity in the area. He said that almost all road links of the area have been blacktopped and rest of them to be taken up for blacktopping very soon.
He said that development of rural and far-off areas is the top priority of the Government adding that up-grading road infrastructure is receiving main focus. He said that all important roads will be up-graded/blacktopped across the State for which the Government has formulated an ambitious plan.
MLA urged the concerned department to complete the work in stipulated time. He said all the developmental works in Kathua constituency will be fast paced so that these can be completed in a time bound manner. The MLA said that no compromise will be made with the quality of the work.
He said the Government has taken various initiatives to provide all-weather road connectivity to people of the State with emphasis on rural and border areas. Spelling out Government’s endeavours of extending an expanded road network in every part of the State, the MLA said that during the regime of present dispensation the State has received substantial funding from the Centre under several schemes envisaging enhanced connectivity. “With expansion in existing road network the State is witnessing a notable growth and development in different spheres”, he added.
