Jasrotia distributes plants under ‘Save Horticulture’ initiative

KATHUA, July 16: MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia, distributed about 1000 fruit plants among people for plantation under ‘Save Horticulture’ initiative.
The ‘Save Horticulture’ initiative was started last year and till date more than 4000 plants of different fruit crops like mango, guava, amla, bael, lemon, jamun and orange were planted.
This year, the initiative was taken yesterday by Dr Parshant Bakshi, Senior Scientist and Head, Advanced Centre for Horticulture Research of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, for creating awareness among the people of Kathua district for planting of fruit plants.
During the programme, Dr Bakshi, Dr Kamlesh Bali, Dharminder Jasrotia along with MLA and local Sarpanch distributed 1000 plants of mango, loquat, litchi, papaya, guava and citrus fruits to the local people and requested them to nurture these plants as their own child.
Dr Bakshi requested the people to plant at least one tree on the special occasions like birthday, marriage ceremony, festivals and treat it like their own child and when after three years it comes into bearing they will consume the fruit of these plants and make their family members nutritionally strong.
Rajiv Jasrotia, said that the Union Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been providing liberal funding to the State for accelerating developmental and economic activities. He said these types of initiatives will surely help us to save our motherland against the changing climatic condition.
Later, MLA also planted a sapling in his office premises and released year planner of ‘Save Horticulture’.
