Jammu’s musical duo of Subhash, Neelam Langeh enthralls audience

JAMMU, Jan 30: Presented by Neelam and Subash Langeh, the musical evening titled ‘Surmayi Sham’ brimmed  with sweetness, lovely harmony and the kind of chemistry that could only come from a duo  of husband and wife.
Organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu, in collaboration with IIIM,  Jammu, the exclusive musical presentation by the remarkable musical duo of Jammu, which  featured gazals, geets, poems of top Urdu poets, and melodious singing of popular Dogri  songs, came out as soulful musical treat for the audience.
Establishing that Jammu singers are as good as any popular names in the music industry,  the duo presented solos as well as duet compositions based on poetry of top poets like  Gulzar, Nida Fazli, Sudershan Fakir, Tahir Faraz, Padma Sachdev and Champa Sharma, here this evening at IIIM Auditorium, Canal Road, Jammu.
Earlier the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, Balwant Thakur in his welcome address, introduced the duo and said the first duet singers of the State are professionally qualified and approved singers of All India Radio and Doordarshan. They have participated in music concerts in different parts of the country and also have sung for regional films, FM Channels and various Television serials. He said that Subhash Langeh, has been student of Ustad Sakhawat Hussain Khan while Neelam Langeh been a student of Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu. The duo has already cut six albums of Bhajans and other music cassettes and CDs, he said.
Today’s programme started with Nida Fazli’s ‘Dil Ke Deewaro-Dar Pe Kaya Dekha….Bass Tera Naam Hi Likha Dekha’. It was followed by ‘Kisi Nazar Ko Tera Intzaar Aaj Bhi Hai’.
Witnessing their programme, audience was reminded of legendary husband-wife duo singers Jagjit Singh-Chitra Singh and Bhupender-Mitali.
The artistes who gave accompaniment included prominent flutiest Rakesh Anand, Karan Malhotra on Tabla and Vicky Gill on Synthesizer. Prominent among those who attended the function included K.L. Verma, Kamal Sharma, Jeevan Sharma, Rajeev Luthra, Sanjeev Luthra, Sunil Sharma, Arvind Anand, Hitesh Badyal and Neha Lalotra.
