Jammuites face acute shortage of essential commodities

JAMMU, Feb 17: Though the curfew and restrictions continued on third straight day in Jammu, inhabitants of various areas have complained of facing acute shortage of essential commodities and baby food.
The residents of several areas today complained of facing acute shortage of essential commodities and baby food.
Inhabitants of several areas of Jammu District including Janipur, Roop Nagar, Muthi, Satwari, Gandhi Nagar, New Plot, Sarwal and others said that they are not being allowed to purchase essential commodities.
They alleged that forces don’t allow shopkeepers in interiors to open their shops. “Besides forces, groups of youth also appear in the localities and force shopkeepers to close down their shops,” residents said.
Residents said that with such kind of happenings, they are facing immense hardships.
“The authorities should allow us to purchase the essential commodities,” said Verinder Chib, a youth.
He appealed to the administration to look into the issue and allow some relaxation in the curfew in Jammu so as to provide some succor to the people especially patients.
