Jammu Sahodaya Schools Athletic Meet gets underway

JAMMU, Nov 6: The Jammu Sahodaya Schools Athletic Meet 2017 got off to a colourful start at Sainik School Nagrota, here today.
Eighteen schools affiliated to CBSE which are members of Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex are participating in various Track and Field events in the Meet.
The Meet was declared open by Jagadish Singh Dhami, Principal, Heritage School who is also the President of Jammu Sahodaya Schools Complex. He has urged the athletes to participate in this competition with true sportsman spirit and uphold discipline and comradeship.
Nirmal Mahana, Principal, Delhi Public School Kathua, Secretary, JASSC was also present to grace the occasion.
The first day’s events started off with 200 mtrs heats for boys, in which out of 18 participants, six athletes qualified for the finals to be held tomorrow.
Cadet Karma Dukda of Sainik School Nagrota won the first gold medal in Shot Put (Boys) while Ankit Kumar of APS Akhnoor won Gold in 3000 mtrs run in which Cadet Sarfaraz of Sainik School Nagrota won Bronze.
In Girls category, Lavanya Mahajan of JKPS Kunjwani bagged Gold in Shot Put while Mansi Tiwari of APS Akhnoor won Gold in Triple Jump. At the end of the first day’s events, the Chief Guest presented medals to the winners of these events and appreciated all the participants for showing sportsman spirit
