Jammu Rising Stars wins inaugural tie against Jammu Challengers Eleven

JAMMU, Oct 15: Jammu Rising Stars registered emphatic win against the Jammu Challengers Eleven by 6 wickets in the inaugural tie of 2nd Diwali Cricket Championship for Under-16 boys, being played at MA Stadium Cricket Ground here today.
The Championship is being organized by District Sports Council Jammu and Sports Promoters Club J&K under the supervision of Rajesh Gill, Member Jammu Sports Council and Former Ranji Player.
Ranjeet Kalra Vice Chairman District Sports Council Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion who inaugurated the championship in the presence of Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer, Advocate Ajay Manhas, Advocate Rajinder Singh Jamwal and other sports lovers.
Batting first, Jammu Challengers Eleven scored 171 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs. Sachin was the main scorer who made 40 runs, Prayas scored 30 runs and Stephan contributed with 23 runs to the total.
From Jammu Rising Stars, Dhruv took 3 wickets, Praful took 2 wickets, while Abay Tondon and Nityam shared 1 wicket.
In reply, Jammu Rising Stars achieved the target in 28.2 overs for the loss of 4 wickets and thus won the match by 6 wickets. Surya scored 67 runs, Musaif made 44 runs, Praful scored 19 runs and Shivansh chipped in 16 runs.
From Jammu Challengers Eleven, Amit Sharma was the main bowler who took 2 wickets, while Jai Dev Manhas and Ashim Nanda shared 1 wicket each.
Surya was adjudged as Man of the Match.
Sandeep Manchanda and Shugal acted as umpires in the opening match of the championship.
