JAMMU, Jan 20:  With the State Education Minister re-iterating in the Assembly the decision of the Education Department to fill up, on fast track basis, 2154 posts of teachers, the district wise breakup of which had already been given earlier,  NPP leader Harsh Dev Singh  lampooned the stoic silence of the Jammu based legislators in the face of perpetuation of such bias against Jammu region.
He said that only last month the advertisement notification advertising 2154 posts of teachers comprising 1864 posts for Kashmir region and 290 for Jammu region had been issued which had sparked massive outrage among Jammu youth. He said that several Ministers had assured at that time that anomalous situation would  be immediately rectified by announcing additional posts for various districts of Jammu region several of whom had been completely ignored with not a single post of teacher having been assigned to them.
Singh regretted that while the Education Minister repeated the same figure in the Assembly without making any mention about the additional posts for Jammu region, the BJP Legislators preferred to remain tight-lipped and failed to assert despite the heat in Jammu region turning into a furnace.
He was addressing the party workers on the 6th day of 24×7 relay hunger strike launched by JKNPP near the statute of Maharaja Hari Singh. The hunger strike was today joined by 50 odd female members of the party besides party activists of Ramban district.
Talking to media, Harsh Dev said that while concerns of Kashmir region were being aggressively agitated and appropriately addressed including its power woes, health and education issues, the Jammu region had gone un-represented in the Assembly with 25 BJP legislators preferring to ignore the woes of their electorates so as to keep the Kashmir Ministers in good humour.
Expressing grave concern over the war like situation on borders resulting in loss of precious lives and large scale migration, Singh regretted the cold response of the mandated leaders and their flip flop over the promise to provide 5 marla plots to border dwellers besides construction of bunkers.
