JAMMU, Oct 8: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) held strong protest rally along with large number of prominent citizens with empty buckets utensils, thereby disrupting traffic on Ambphalla-High Court road against acute scarcity of the drinking water in Jammu city.
Addressing the protestants JWAM president Sunil Dimple alleged that PHE department has been made defunct and a headless body by this Government as there is no Chief Engineer on the chair of CE PHE and the additional charge has been given to the CE I&FC.
He also demanded to immediately regularize all the striking daily wagers of the PHE and all other departments and extended full support to the striking daily wagers.
Dimple alleged the BJP-PDP Government and PHE Ministry is responsible for the acute scarcity of the drinking water in the Jammu city as the Chenab Water Supply Project file is gathering dust in the last 25 years, lying in the different departments.
Dimple alleged that the water is supplied once in week in the Jammu city and in the localities of the West Assembly constituency.
Dimple demanded to install the fresh new receiving station of 50 MVA at Janipur to overcome the load problem and the curtailment of power cuts.
Dimple also demanded to return Dul Hasti, Uri and the Salal Hydro Electric Projects to the State Government.
