JAMMU, Mar 20: Jammu District Korfball Championship began at Play Field Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Eight teams of different clubs participated in the tournament.
S. Tarlok Singh, retired Divisional Youth Services and Sports Officer and Advisor Jammu and Kashmir Korfball Association inaugurated the Championship in an impressive and well attended function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were S Manjeet Singh, General Secretary of the Association, RK Sharma Treasurer, Seema Khayal Joint Secretary and SK Sharma, Member.
On day-1, Jammu South beat Young Star by 7-5, Jammu East defeated Evergreen Club by 9-4, Tripura Club trounced Jammu Rural Club by 5-2, Guru Nanak Club drubbed Tiger Club by 8-3.
The semifinals and the final matches will be played tomorrow.
