JAMMU, Apr 21: Inter-School District Level Tournament for girls in the sports discipline of Badminton under-14 and under-17 years girls concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The Tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General Youth Services & Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Jammu.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the Organising Secretary of the tournament.
Dr OD Sharma, Vice President of J&K Badminton Association was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council and Jeet Singh, ZPEO were the guests of honour.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu addressed the participants and advised them to take part in games and sports with sporting spirit.
The main objective of the Tournament was to select the teams of Jammu District for Division Level Inter District Tournament.
In Under-14 Girls Badminton final, DPS beat Heritage by (2-0), while in the 1st semifinal, Heritage outplayed Presentation Convent by (2-1) and in 2nd semifinal, DPS beat APS Domana by (2-0).
In singles, Krishka drubbed Pranjal by (24-22, 21-7), while in doubles, Krishka and Ritika trounced Pranjal and Jasnab by (19-21, 21-9, 21-14).
In Under-17 Girls Badminton, DPS again defeated Heritage by (2-0).
Earlier, in the 1st semifinal, DPS got the better of Carmel Convent by (2-0) and in 2nd semifinal, Heritage beat SOS by (2-0)
In singles, Charvi beat Piya (21-9, 21-4), while in doubles, Charvi and Ananya beat Nupur and Anhat by (21-4, 21-5).
The matches were officiated by Sanjay Khajuria, Vikram Jamwal, Vishal Bharti, Tarun Pal Singh, Ravinder Singh, Ram Murti, Ranjit Singh, KD Singh, Honey and Vishal.
