Jagti township inmates, pending shopkeepers delegation call on Veeri

JAMMU, Apr 19: A delegation of inmates of Jagti township led by Ajay Bhat and Ravi Zutshi called on Minister of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Abdul Rehman Veeri and apprised him of the basic problems of the migrants in general and inmates of Jagti town in particular.
The delegation also handed over a memorandum to the Minister in this regard demanding early settlement of the problems. The delegation demanded that the relief and ration be disbursed on the first week of every month as migrants dependent on cash relief from Government are facing many hardships due to delay in the supply of the same.
The delegation further demanded that the Jagti hospital be made functional properly and medicines and other facilities be kept available in the hospital. The delegation further demanded on spot recruitment drive be held in the township,  payment of Rs 400 as relief per soul per day, insurance  cover to relief holders, compensation to the over aged youth, shifting of DC Office Relief to Jagti township, holding of elections in the Jagti township, renovation of migrant flats at Jagti etc.
Veeri said all the genuine demands will be settled. He assured ration and relief will be supplied in the stipulated period every month while the hospital will be made functional fully and the on spot recruitment drive in the camps will also be launched soon.  He also justified the demand regarding enhancement of relief and insurance cover to migrants while informed the delegation that the demand regarding one time compensation to over aged youth will be looked into and issue regarding renovation of quarters will be taken soon.
The other members of the delegation included Anu Jee, Som Nath Gurtoo, Raj Kapoor, Gopinath and Bansi Lal Koul.
Meanwhile, another delegation led by National Executive Member BJP, Mahila Morcha Sheela Handoo also called on the Minister and demanded appointment orders be issued in favour of the migrant youth who were recently appointed under PM package and other hurdles in the way of PM package appointments be also removed.
The delegation also strongly pleaded the case of pending shopkeepers at Jagti and demanded that the allotment in favour of deserving shopkeepers be made at an earliest. The delegation informed the Minister that for last four years the deserving shopkeepers are running from pillar to post for allotment of the shops but to no avail.
The Minister informed the delegation that both the issues will be settled soon and he will issue directives to concerned officers to do the needful in this regard.
