J-K combined competitive prelims exam held, 80 pc attendance

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) today conducted the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2016 for filling 277 gazetted posts in administrative, police and accounts services of the State.

It was the first time that the examination was conducted at multiple centres and not just Jammu and Srinagar cities.

“A total number of 48,000 applications were received and approximately 80 per cent attendance was reported. The examination was conducted at 84 sub-centres across the State,” an official spokesman said.

It was for the first time that the examination centres were established in far-flung areas to provide opportunity to the students of lower income group who, in the past despite having potential to compete were not able to participate in the exam due to financial constraints as the centres would normally be established at two central places — Jammu and Srinagar, the official said.

This time the examination centres were established at Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Leh, Kargil and Rajouri apart from those established at Srinagar and Jammu cities. (AGENCIES)
