Iyer calls on Guv, CM

JAMMU, Feb 14: Parmeshwaran Iyer, Secretary Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, called on Governor N N Vohra, Chairman Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Iyer apprised the Governor about J&K’s performance under “Swachh Bharat Mission”, the Prime Minister’s Flagship Scheme and the urgent need to improve the sanitation and cleanliness through effective solid and liquid waste management.
The Governor discussed with Iyer the ongoing and the planned projects relating to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine which has been declared as one of the 10 Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) under Phase 1 of the Swachh Bharat Mission, for improving cleanliness, waste collection and disposal, and accessibility facilities at Katra and various sanitation infrastructure and facilities on the way to the Shrine. Shri Iyer assured of all required support to the Shrine Board under SIP.
Iyer also called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here today.
The Union Secretary briefed the Chief Minister about the schemes and allocations of his Ministry about the State.
The Chief Minister impressed upon Iyer to enhance the funds allocations to the State owing to less precipitation during current winter which may result into more demands of drinking water and irrigation facilities in the State.
