KARGIL, Feb 2: ITBP lifted the 11th CEC Ice Hockey Cup by defeating Himalayan Hawks by 6 goals and won Rs 50,000 prize money, here.
The tournament was organized by District Youth Service and Sports Department in Collaboration with Kargil Ice and Snow Ski Club at Khree Sultan Choo Ice Hockey Rink Kargil, in which all the teams from Kargil as well as teams from Leh also participated.
The chief guest Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan said that the youths of Kargil will opt sports like Ice Hockey, Archery and Horse Polo as Profession so that they can earn a healthy living in future.
“The present dispensation is focused on promoting sports like Ice Hockey which has a great scope for a player to excel at national level and International level very easily,” he added.
He informed that the LAHDC Kargil has special focus on making the event popular in the Country and keeping that in view he requested all the associations and clubs of Kargil to come forward with a concrete plan so that National events can be attracted to Kargil which will help the players to get National and International level experiences.
Congratulating the winner and runners-up teams, he assured the players he will leave no stone unturned to enhance the infrastructure facility for the players in Kargil.
On this occasion the guest of honour Executive Councilor Nasir Hussain Munshi urged upon the CEC to start Junior CEC Ice Hockey Cup so that the morale of the young players will be boosted.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Vikas Kundal was the special guest, SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, DySSO Kargil Mohammad Jaffar Dass, District and Police Officers were also present on this occasion.
Later he distributed medals and prizes amongst the winners and runners-up teams.
The chief guest also distributed certificates among the participants of the recently held Basic Ice Hockey Camp at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium.
The Final of the JK Police Junior Ice Hockey Cup was also conducted on the occasion.
