JAMMU, Mar 26: Expanding the ambit of its ongoing drive, Income Tax Department today carried out survey in the establishment of two prominent doctors in Kathua town.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that on the basis of credible information that Dr Jaswant Singh Jasrotia, a top Paediatrician of Kathua and his son Dr Rajeev, who jointly run a private health care centre in the heart of town, were not paying taxes as per their exact income, the sleuths of IT Department carried out survey this morning.
During the survey, the taxmen laid hands on several documents establishing large scale evasion of income tax. During the preliminary scrutiny of the impounded documents, the IT sleuths came to know that both the doctors were suppressing their income during the past many years.
“The department has decided to further expand ambit of its ongoing drive during the next few days”, sources said.
