IT lodges FIRs against fake companies

JAMMU, Feb 3: The Income Tax Department today lodged First Information Reports (FIRs) at various police stations of Jammu district against non-existent companies.
Police said they have registered cases against fictitious and non-existent companies under Section 420 RPC at all the police stations, where the Income Tax Department has filed complaints of cheating by the companies.
The companies had registered themselves at various places, availed subsidies etc but didn’t pay their taxes. The Income Tax Department has officially lodged complaint against the companies at various police stations, under whose jurisdiction the companies had shown their addresses.
The FIRs have been lodged against unknown factory owners, who had opened companies on fake addresses in the City and paid no taxed for the past two years, sources said.
They added that police have taken up the cases for investigations.
