IT enablement of Legislature to start soon

JAMMU, Jan 6: The meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-II) of Legislative Council was held here today under the chairmanship of MLC, Vijay Bakaya to review the functioning of Information and Technology Department.
Chairman, Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra, B R. Kundal and other members of the Committee were present on the occasion.
Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology, Bipul Pathak briefed the Committee about the functioning of the department.
The Committee was informed that IT enablement of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council has been approved. The proposal has been submitted to the Union Government for funding.
The Commissioner Secretary IT Department informed that IT enablement will improve the administrative functioning of the State legislature and make data readily available to the Legislators during the session and will facilitate concerned departments to put questions directly on application to accelerate the legislative business.
He also informed the Committee that all the Legislators shall be provided smart devices to excess the application, Wi-Fi setup to cover both the houses to excess the application. He said that Questions of both the houses will be directly uploaded besides training will be given to Legislators and other concerned officers of Legislature Secretariat as well as concerned officers in Civil Secretariat in this behalf.
The Chairman Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra gave nod to the implementation of the project by the IT Department. This will be started during the summer session of State Legislature in Srinagar.
