Issue guidelines for security of students: HC

JAMMU, Nov 6: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Shivan Mahajan against child abuse, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Tashi Rabstan has directed Director School Education, Jammu and Director School Education, Kashmir to issue guidelines to the schools to ensure safety and security of the children studying in their institutions.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, the DB observed, “in compliance to the order passed by this court on 12.07.2017, the respondents have filed status report, in which inter alia it is stated that the respondents have constituted District level Social Welfare Councils for districts of Baramulla, Srinagar, Kargil, Budgam, Leh, Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal”.
“It is further submitted that the information with regard to districts of Shopian and Kishtwar is awaited”, the DB further observed and directed that respondents shall complete the process of constituting Social Welfare Councils for remaining districts within two months from today.
“The respondents shall also conclude the process of constitution of the Child Welfare Committees as well as appointment of Chairperson and members of the Juvenile Justice Board within a period of six weeks in 10 districts of Kashmir from today”, the DB further directed.
