IoE organizes lecture on ‘Indian Power Sector Scenario’

JAMMU, Apr 23: The Institution of Engineers, Jammu Local Centre organized a lecture on “Indian Power Sector Scenario” at Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu, presented by Er KR Suri, retired GM [O&M], Power Grid, Jammu.
Er RK Seli, MIE; former Development Commissioner, PDD, J&K, graced the occasion as chief guest. A large number of engineers attended the lecture read out by Er KR Suri. The presentation focused on growth of power generation and transmission system since independence, rise of voltage level for the purpose of bulk transmission, exploring different forms of energy such as solar, wind, geo thermal, tidal waves, molten salt etc., planning by GOI to meet demand/generation by 2030, transmission losses and how to reduce them.
Presentation covered exploring power resources, rise of per capita consumption in country and comparison with neighbouring and Europe countries. The lecture was followed by interaction, discussions and deliberation with the audience and guests.
Er BL Rawal, MIE; honorary secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented the vote of thanks.
