Involved in deceit, dares fill up 28 vacancies

Yes, it can happen only in Jammu and Kashmir State where a bureaucrat involved in brazen fraudulent selections in Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) has been enjoying the cosy posting and perks instead of facing a stern action from the Government. He is as a result, emboldened to this extent so as to issue “advertisement notice” for filling up of 28 posts in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council .
The extent of brazenness of Abdul Majid Bhat, Secretary Law and Additional Secretary Legislative Council can be seen in his giving the contract to conduct “examinations” and recruitment in the LC to M/s LM Energy and Software Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon which is the same agency that “conducted examinations” of the KVIB candidates where relatives of politicians were appointed instead of deserving candidates. Readers may kindly recall that Excelsior, as usual, has , through these columns , already voiced due concern on such appointments in KVIB and urged the Government to act against the concerned officer. Now, the same Officer has gone further in his hegemonic and perhaps insulated action in repeating in the LC the same which he is alleged to have done successfully in KVIB.
It is, however, a matter of relief and satisfaction that Governor Satya Pal Malik has intervened and is seeking action in the matter while State High Court has stayed the selection process and had asked the Law Secretary to furnish reply by November 5. It may be recalled that in the year 2014, LC made 28 appointments and majority of them were either relatives of politicians or of their aides. Why are not those officers summarily placed under suspension immediately after instances of corruption and embezzlements are levelled against them and charge – sheeted followed by enquiries and adequate punishments?
