Introduce Gojri as compulsory subject in schools

JAMMU, Nov 5: Maintaining that Gojri is the richest tribal language of north-western India in terms of folk and modern literature, the participants of  six day state level workshop held here to develop Gojri text books stressed that Gojri must be introduced as a compulsory subject in schools  like Kashmiri, Dogri and Boti.
The workshop was organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education which concluded at Conference Hall of the Board, here today.
Dr. Javaid Rahi –noted Gojri scholar and Chief Editor Gojri in Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presided over the concluding function while, Dr. Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Assistant Director Academics, and Dr Anuradha Sharma, Academic Officer were in the presidium.
Dr. Rahi in his presidential address stated that during last six days of workshop three ‘Text Books’ in Gojri for 6th to 8th classes have been developed to introduce in Govt and Private schools of the State by BOSE.
He said our team has adopted two way approach in developing curriculum. “First, in text books,  we highlighted  the latest issues being faced by human kind included  Technical revolution, economy and environment, and secondly  we projected the ignored aspects of the  ’Gujjar History’ in the reference material on these three books,” he said.
The main objective of this workshop is to boost Gojri language through the development of text books in Gojri for Middle stranded from 6th to 8th classes, said Dr. Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Assistant Director Academics and added prior to this Gojri text books from 1st to 5th were reviewed and introduced in the school.
The speakers on the occasion have invited attention of State Board of School Education authorities and stressed that Gojri language be included in the curriculum upto 12th Class.
Those who are participating in the workshop included noted Gojri writer Jan Mohammad Hakeem, Amin Anjum, Abdul Majeed Chowdhary, Ch Mohammad Aslam, Rajinder Singh, Suresh Goriya, and Ranjeet Singh Manhas.
