Intermittent snow continues for second day in upper reaches, rain lashes plains in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Intermittent snow continued for the second successive day on Wednesday in world ski resort of Gulmarg and other upper reaches while rain lashed plains in Kashmir valley, where weather woes will continue during the next three days.

Meanwhile, the night temperature improved and settled above normal at majority of the places in Kashmir valley thoughout the day temperature remained several degrees below normal due to wet weather.

A Met department spokesperson said that widespread rain and snow would occur during the next three days in the valley under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD) which is active in the region. “The weather will be dry on Saturday,” he said.

However, he said a fresh WD, which originated from the Arabian Sea and is approaching through Afghanistan and Pakistan, would likely hit the region on Sunday, which would result in another spell of snow. (AGENCIES)
