Inter-state drug traffickers arrested with 67 kg poppy straw

RAMBAN, Jan 24: Ramsoo police arrested three inter-state drug traffickers and recovered 67 kilograms poppy straw from them
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Ramsoo police station laid a naka on NHW-44 and signaled a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number HR26AR- 6310 to stop for checking, but sensing trouble, the driver accelerated the vehicle and fled away from the spot.
Being suspicious, another Naka ahead was informed and police party chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Panthyal Bridge.
During checking, 67 kilograms poppy straw was found concealed in three bags and arrested three persons traveling in the car.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Banarsi Dass of Jodhawal, Ludhiana, Gagandeep Singh, son of Dalveer Singh of Meharban Basti, Ludhiana and Sandeep Kumar, son of Darshan Lal of Bajra Rahon Road, Ludhiana.
The accused had brought the consignment from Kashmir for further sale in Punjab to earn illegitimate profit.
A case under FIR Number 6/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Ramsoo and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramsoo Inspector Muneer Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
