UDHAMPUR, Dec 31: District Election Office Udhampur today organized an Inter-School painting competition on the topic “Every Vote Counts’ at Government Higher Secondary School, Udhampur.
Deputy District Election Officer, Sapna Kotwal was the chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Kotwal said that main objective of organizing such events is to generate awareness among adults about their right and duties as voters. She urged upon the students to enroll themselves in the voting list at the age of 18 and become contributors in nation building. She also asked them to create awareness among people regarding the importance of their vote.
As many as, 30 students from different educational institutions participated in the painting competition in which Sandeep Singh from Brahm Rishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth Higher Secondary School clinched first position while Santosh Kumari of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Udhampur stood second.
Among others, Manjulla Arora, Principal GHSS, Staff of District Election Office, besides teachers and large number of students were present on the occasion.
