Inter-District Yoga, Chess competitions conclude

JAMMU, Aug 31: Inter District State level Chess and Inter District Divisional Level Yoga under all age groups boys and girls competitions concluded today at Youth Hostel, Nagrota, near here.
In all, about 200 participants of 14 districts of the State took part in both the events.
The competitions were organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the Organising Secretary of the tournaments. Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu, was the chief guest on the concluding function, who distributed trophies among the winners.
Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu advised the participants to take part in games with sporting spirit.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams for the next level of competitions.
In Under-14 boys (Chess) final, District Jammu beat District Kathua by 5-0, while in Under-17 boys (Chess) title clash, District Jammu defeated District Kathua by 3-2 and in Under-19 boys (Chess) final,
District Kathua outplayed District Jammu by 4-1.
In Under-14 Girls (Chess), District Kathua trounced District Jammu by 4-1, while in Under-17 Girls (Chess), District Jammu drubbed District Anantnag by 4-1 and in Under-19 boys (Chess), District Jammu beat District Kathua by 3-2.
In Under-4 Girls (Yoga), Lachiya of District Jammu bagged 1st place, while the 2nd place was claimed by Swastika of District Jammu and the 3rd place went to Shipali of District Reasi.
In Under-14 Boys (Yoga), the 1st place went to Varun of District Jammu, 2nd by Ritvika of District Jammu and 3rd by Davyash of District Reasi.
In Under-17 Boys (Yoga), 1st Pawan Kumar of District Jammu, 2nd Mohd Hamza of District Jammu and 3rd Dushyant of District Jammu, while in Under-17 Girls (Yoga), 1st Afreen Kour of District Jammu, 2nd Siya of District Jammu and 3rd Himani of District Jammu.
In Under-19 Boys (Yoga), 1st Sonu of District Jammu, 2nd Anupam Khajuria of District Jammu and 3rd Karan Pandita of District Jammu.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports Jammu.
