Inter-district thieves arrested, 4 theft cases worked out

UDHAMPUR, May 4: In a major success, the District Police arrested nine inter-district thieves and recovered stolen property worth lakhs thereby working out four theft cases under the jurisdiction of Police Stations Udhampur, Ramnagar and Rehmbal.
With this, Udhampur Police under the supervision of Incharge SSP Benam Tosh have worked out seven complex theft cases within a period of just two weeks and recovered stolen property worth several lakhs including cash.
While sharing the information with media during a press conference, here today, Incharge SSP Benam Tosh said that Police conducted a series of raids and arrested five thieves, who were instrumental in theft of iron plates worth Rs 2 lakh at village Rehani in Ramnagar on the intervening night of April 27-28. The thieves were identified as Maroof Hussain of Dalwas,  Zulfiqar Ali of Darai,  Irshad Hussain of  Darai,  Shehzad Hussain of  Batote  and Mohd  Nurani of Parnote.   A Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK19-1611 was also seized from them. Some more arrests are likely to be made in this case and police is conducting raids in various suspected hideouts in this regards, the SSP informed.
In another case, SHO Rehmbal Inspector Pardeep Gupta arrested Vicky alias Jaggu of Megani, Udhampur on the complaint of Major Sonia Sehgal of 57 EWE C/o 56/APO Chinar Udhampur. Stolen cable worth Rs 50000 approximately has been recovered from possession of the accused. More arrests are likely to be made in this case.
Bashir Ahmed of Tanda Nagrota and Mohd  Ismail of  Hartryan Udhampur were arrested on complaint of theft by one Roshan Din of Bali Nallah Udhampur  while Vinod Kumar alias Bunty of Sial Sallan in Udhampur was arrested for pick pocketing Rs 62000 in other case.
