Inter-District Table Tennis competition gets underway

JAMMU, Aug 10: Divisional Level Inter-District competition in the discipline of Table Tennis boys and girls (all age groups) got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
In all, a total of 90 players, with 60 boys and 30 girls drawn from six districts of Jammu division are taking part in the event. The participating districts include Udhampur, Samba, Doda, Kathua, Poonch and the host Jammu.
The competition is being held under the patronage of Director Youth Services and Sports, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed and under the chairmanship of Joint Director Jammu, Madan Lal.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu, organizing secretary of the event declared the Tournament open in a simple function, today.
In Under-14 girls final, Jammu district defeated Poonch district by (3-0). Iknoor got better of Suhani by (11-8, 11-3), Viseeshi prevailed over Vanshika by (11-9, 17-15) and Mehak outplayed Prachi by (11-3, 11-5).
In Table Tennis Under-14 boys, Udhampur beat Doda, Samba trounced Kathua and Jammu defeated Udhampur.
In Table Tennis Under-17 girls, Jammu thrashed Samba, while in Under-17 boys, Udhampur got better of Doda and Kathua drubbed Samba.
The matches were officiated by Sandeep, Rekha Ratra, Sourav and Narinder.
The objective of the competition is to pick the teams for Jammu region for further participation in Inter Division Tournaments for finalization of the State teams.
