INSPIRE Awards: Jammu students allege unfairness, mismanagement

JAMMU, June 6: Parents of the participating students from Jammu region have alleged unfairness and mismanagement in the State level competition for INSPIRE Award MANAK 2018 in the Exhibition, held yesterday at Sate Institute of Education, Bemina Srinagar.
Out of the total 107 Inspire Models, displayed in the exhibition, 57 models were from Jammu region and 49 from Kashmir valley while one model was from Kargil. However, only one model by one Koushal Sharma, representing DIET Kud, Udhampur, was selected among the top ten for national level exhibition at New Delhi in the month of July 2018. Koushal Sharma presented Blind Glasses as his project.
As nine out of ten selected models were from Kashmir, parents of the students, who participated in the State level exhibition at Bemina, alleged unfairness in the final selection.
They further alleged no arrangements for their stay in Srinagar as the concerned authorities provided them only Rs 250 for boarding and lodging while the quality of food was also very poor.
