JAMMU, Feb 17: A team of School Education Department inspected various schools in city and its outskirts for ascertaining the fulfillment of the requisite norms by the private educational institutions.
The team was comprised of Joint Director, School Education Jammu, Charandeep Singh, Additional DC, Jammu, Arun Manhas, CEO Jammu, JK Sudan and SDM South, Kulbushan Khajuria, and was headed by Director School Education (DSE) Jammu, Ravinder Singh.
During inspection of schools, the team found one of the schools in Sainik Colony functioning without permission of the State Government. It was also observed that the school did not have the requisite disaster management plan and was also found functioning without seeking ‘No objection certificates’ from Fire Services Department, R&D Department and Jammu Development Authority.
Taking cognizance of this serious lapse, Director School Education issued on spot direction to the school management to furnish the requisite documents within few days failing which necessary action under rules shall be initiated against the school.
Joint Director, School Education Jammu, Charandeep Singh, Additional DC, Jammu, Arun Manhas, CEO Jammu, JK Sudan and SDM South, Kulbushan Khajuria, were also accompanying the DSE Jammu during the inspection of the school.
It is pertinent to mention that number of deputations of parents have met the DSE Jammu and apprised him of monopoly of certain private schools in charging exorbitant fees, sale of uniforms, books, besides apprising him of cases of corporal punishment in certain private schools.
In this regard, Director School Education has already constituted various teams headed by zonal education officers under the overall control of CEO Jammu for inspection of private schools falling within their respective jurisdiction.
Various schools inspected by such teams are Dashmesh Public School Digiana, Shiksha Niketan High School Gandhi Nagar, Guru Harkrishan Public School Nanak Nagar, Green Field Public School Gandhi Nagar, Arjun Public School RS Pura, Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School RS Pura, Ajanta High School Sai, Lord Krishna Public School Sohajana, Bharat Public School Gadigarh, Divya HSS Lower Gadigarh, National Academy Jandrah, Shining Star Jhajjar Kotli.
