Inquiry ordered into GMC molestation case: Bali

JAMMU, Jan 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today said that  Government has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the allegations of molestation against a doctor at GMC Jammu.
Responding to the demand raised by some opposition members in the Upper House today, with regard to time-bound inquiry into the matter, the Minister said that Govt has already taken serious note of the issue.
The Health Minister informed the Members of the Upper House that an FIR has already been registered against the accused doctor. Even a departmental inquiry has been instituted to probe the allegation. It has been  asked to submit its report within 10 days.
The Minister said the accused doctor has already been put under suspension pending inquiry. He said the law will take its own course and the guilty, whosoever, will face action as per the law of the land.
Earlier, Congress member Naresh Gupta from Doda  and National Conference Legislator Shehnaz Ganai from Poonch besides others raised the issue in the House during Question Hour and said that female  students were feeling unsafe in the  GMC Jammu.  They demanded that special investigation be conducted in the case or House Committee be set up to probe the matter.
The Chairman endorsed the demand raised by members and asked the Government whether they wanted to say anything on it. After the reply of the Health Minister, the chairman declared that if the members will not be satisfied with the outcome of the probe or action taken by Govt,  they can put forth the demand of the House Committee. He directed the minister to submit the inquiry report in the Upper House within 10 days.
