JAMMU, Nov 30: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today alleged that `inefficient and insensitive’ PDP-BJP coalition has failed to address the burning issues of the general public.
While interacting with the people of Bahu Fort area in Gandhi Nagar constituency here today, the PCC leader said that the Government should focus on the chaotic areas of the city. These areas require immediate widening or flyovers. Flyover at National Highway Greater Kailash near Sainik Colony approved by previous Govt could not be taken up and also at Kunjwani Chowk flyover approved by National Highway Authority could not see light of the day.
These flyovers were approved by UPA Govt, but `PDP- BJP’ failed to pursue Modi Govt at the Centre to start even after lapse of three years of the Govt formation causing great hardships to general public. Flyovers on these sites are urgently required. These flyovers were on tendering stage for last three years.
Bhalla said the areas such as New Plot-Janipur, Talab Tillo-Bohri and BC Road-Amphalla face a lot of traffic congestion on a routine basis. The tall claims of the Government to decongest the roads and reduce traffic chaos will remain hoax until a fool-proof plan for three most vulnerable areas of the city comes to existence. The 3-km-long New Plot, Janipur road, is one of the most vulnerable areas in the city, as far as traffic chaos is concerned. It takes more than half an hour to cross the 3-km passage during peak hours.
Despite protests and appeals to the Government, no plan has been made for road widening or constructing flyovers. He said the problems in Jammu have been complicated further by the activities of vested interests in the Govt who have preferred to get personal benefits while sacrificing the bigger cause of the people of this region.
Bhalla said over a dozen projects, including Jammu flyover, Tawi artificial lake, fourth bridge over river Tawi, multi-storey parking at Super Specialty Hospital, various grid and receiving stations besides water supply schemes were launched and completed in Jammu city during the tenure of Congress Government.
He alleged that Coalition Govt has failed to solve day today problems of the people and common masses have to agitate on streets even for getting basic amenities like water, power and ration.
Lambasting BJP, Bhalla said that this party has betrayed people of Jammu region as nothing has been done to solve their day to day problems. ” PDP and BJP are creating hype and plunging the state into uncalled for controversies over issues which are no way connected either with governance or the much hyped development,” he said.
