JAMMU, Jan 4: Senior Consultants from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals today discussed basic issues related to liver transplantation, indications and results, treatment of Chronic Viral Hepatitis and management of HBV malignancy during a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for medical practitioners in Jammu, here today.
The CME  was organized in association with Jammu Healthcare and Diagnostic Centre Private Limited, a part of Apollo Information Center Network, serving people of Jammu for the last seven years.
Enlightening the gathering on recent developments on liver transplantation and  Challenges faced in treatment of Chronic Viral Hepatitis, Dr  AC Anand, Senior Consultant, Gastroenterology Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals said that the   goal of hepatitis B treatment was  to prevent cirrhosis, liver decompensation and hepatocellularcarcinoma. “Current antiviral therapies are effective in bringing down the viral replication but unable to eradicate the infection.
