Indo-Pak friendship to benefit J&K people immensely: NC

AJOTE (POONCH), June 3: Emphasising the significance of thaw in Indo-Pak ties, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Monday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be the major beneficiaries of normalised relations between the two countries.
Addressing largely attended public meetings at Ajote, close to Line of Control, Chacktroo and Poonch city, Mr Rana who was on a week long tour to district Poonch, said that with Nawaz Sharief holding the centre-stage in Pakistan the prospectus of peace have brightened in the sub-continent.
“Post-polls Pakistan appears to be more receptive to India’s desire for peace”, he said adding that the positive vibes emanating from across the borders strengthen this hope more than ever before. “With situation taking positive turn-around, the people of the State, especially those living on borders have a reason to cheer about, as friendly relations will give boost to people to people exchange,  enhance LoC trade and help in forging bonds of friendship”, he maintained.
Mr. Rana seized this opportunity to dismantle the hoax being created by People’s Democratic Party by claiming to be the main facilitator for Indo-Pak talks during the then two Government’s of India and Pakistan said that the only achievement of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has been to take credit for everything, whether that pertained to his domain or not.
“For over a decade now, Mufti Sayeed has been patting his own back for something he is not even remotely concerned with”, Mr Rana added.
He cautioned the people against political gimmickry of self-seekers who have been coming before them in different guises to create confusion rather than solving problems. He said that deceptive politicians have caused enormous miseries to the people by exploiting their sentiments and referred to the situation of 2008 when the two regions of the State and various sections of people virtually came eyeball to eyeball situation.
The Provincial President exhorted the people to remain vigilant against exploiters and strengthen National Conference for steering Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to new pinnacles of progress and development. He made a mention of various initiatives taken for people’s empowerment and the developments schemes undertaken across the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajaz Jan enumerated the steps taken for the development of various areas in the Poonch district and said that concerted efforts are being made to improve the road network, upgrade the basic facilities like power, water and irrigation. He said focussed attention is being paid towards health and education sectors and referred to the efforts taken in recent years to improve the educational standards and strengthening the health sector.
He highlighted various local issues and sought full ration quota under Above Poverty Line, release of 5 litre kerosene per family, waiver of power tariff to the consumers whose electricity remained disrupted for more than three months during the snag in transmission line. He also sought a special police recruitment drive for unemployed youth of the area.
Earlier, two Sarpanchs Ch Mohammed Bashir Bajran Sarpanch Dingla, Ch Mohammed Bashir Khatana Sarpanch Jandrolla, Ch Nazir Hussain, Niab Sarpanch Salotri  and PDP city youth president Kamaljeet Singh joined National Conference along with their supporters.
Those present in the rallies included Ajaz Jan, MLA,  Dr Shehnaz Ganai, MLC, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, former minister Babu Ram Paul, former legislators Th Kashmiria Singh and Brij Mohan Sharma and other senior leaders.
