Indian Wushu team leaves for Asia Cup, J&K’s Rajinder Singh in squad

JAMMU, Dec 13: 18-member Indian Wushu team left for Guangzhou (China) for the Asia Cup to be held in Guangzhou, China from December 13 to December 17, 2017.
Ace player, Rajinder Singh, bronze medalist in the 14th World Wushu Championship held in Russia and silver medallist in the 9th Asian Wushu Championship is the member of the Indian team for the Championship. He will participate in below 90 kg weight category.
Prior to the Championship, he attended the National Coaching camp at SAI Bhopal from November 20, 2017 till date.
The team has been sanctioned by the Sports Authority of India at the ‘Cost to Government’.
Rajinder recently received 1st Rudra Award by the Prof Chaman Lal Gupta Foundation with a cash prize of Rs 51,000.
The office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K including Vijay Saraf (President),  Ranjeet Kalra, Vice President, Deepak Handa, Sunil Sharma and Sohit Sharma (Treasurer) while congratulating him lauded his efforts for this achievement.  The Chief Coach of India, Kuldeep Handoo, who was also accompanying the team for this event, could not participate due to some unavoidable reasons.
