Indian Army team scales Umasi La peak

JAMMU, Aug 20: Indian Army team scaled Umasi La peak (17521 ft) in Kishtwar, today.
The expedition was flagged off by General Officer Commanding, Delta Force of Indian Army on August 17, 2018 from Machail and the team passed through historic route taken by General Zorawar Singh in his expedition through Zanskar Valley towards Leh.
The team consists of one Officer, one Junior Commissioned Officer and ten Jawans which passed through peaks of Machail-Sumcham-Ruwa to reach Umasi La which is at a height of approx 17500 ft. The Indian Army has shown immense courage and motivation to undertake such an expedition through such mountains in freezing cold weather.
Army believes that adventure activities of such nature will promote adventure sports in the region.
