India values Belarusian support: Naidu

NEW DELHI:  Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today said India’s development mantra is  ”reform, perform, transform”.

Interacting with visiting Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko here, he said India valued and appreciated the support the Eastern European country had extended to India’s candidature for a permanent  seat at the UN Security Council and nomination for election to International Court of Justice Dalveer Bhandari.

He noted that bilateral trade was modest, pointing out that considerable potential existed in both   countries to further boost and diversity their trade basket.

The Vice-President said bilateral visits between the two countries received a boost with the first ever  state visit by then President Pranab Mukherjee to Belarus in June 2015 and the momentum that it generated had been retained through a series of high level interactions.

India, he said, had world-class medical facilities and it was in the interest for both the countries  to promote medical tourism.

The Belarus President invited Mr Naidu to visit their country and offered to send a formal invitation. (AGENCIES)
