Inclusion of Gojri into 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution demanded

JAMMU, Nov 11: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, a prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual of the State has appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to take up the demand of Gujjar and Bakerwal community that Gojri language may be included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India with the Union Government .
In a statement issued here, today, he said this would ensure the development and spread of Gojri language.  Hakla further added that the Gojri language is being spoken by a very large number population of Gujjars and Bakerwals of this border State, the number of which goes over thirty four lakh. So this important language in no way could be ignored and as the only mother tongue of this large number of population is Gojri.
He said keeping in view the demand of such a huge number of population of Gujjar and Bakerwals of the State the inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th Schedule of Constitution of India is most genuine and justified, he added.
