Improve health facilities in SMGS hospital: NPP

JAMMU, May 18: Zonal president of National Panthers Party (NPP) for Jammu   Neeraj Gupta has urged upon the State Health and Medical Education authorities to improve healthcare in SMGS hospital.
Addressing a press conference here today, the NPP leader expresses his grave concern over the deteriorating condition of medical facilities available to the common man in the Govt Hospitals of Jammu including SMGS Hospital, Shalamar.  He said that the people are deprived of modern and effective medical facilities.
Gupta said that the Jammu district is having only one children hospital which is not enough to fulfill the needs of the patients. The patients are ill-treated by the doctors and other paramedical staff. On the one bed allotted,  two to three children are accommodated. Some patients are seen on lying on the floor due to non- availability of beds. Senior doctors are not available to attend the patients at night hours as a result  many patients may even die.
The patients are also deprived of Ambulance service as most of the ambulances are not in good conditions and those which are in good condition are used by the influential people or their own staff.  Blood Bank provides the blood only on exchange basis, but influential people are getting blood without any exchange.
Visitors are paying charges to visit the patients of Rs 5-, but this amount is also not appears to use for the welfare are cleanliness of Hospital as authorities are not taking good steps chair of proper cleanliness/hygiene of the hospital premises. He demanded that SMGS Hospital should be upgraded and the Medical facilities should be improved with immediate effect.
