JAMMU, Dec 12: Impressive processions were taken by members of Muslim community at various places in Jammu region on the occasion of Eid-I-Milad-Ul-Nabi the birthday of Prophet Mohammed today. The day was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety all over the region.
Hundreds of members of Muslim community attired in white dresses carrying religious banners and flags participated in the procession which took place at Janipur and Chowadi today.
The grand procession which was taken from Janipur area, started from Sarwal Chowk in the morning and after passing through Tali Morh, High Court Road, Lakker Mandi, Main Stop Janipur, Paloura Talab it culminated at Eid Gah Ramzanpora in New Janipur in the afternoon.
The Muslims participating in the procession were raising religious slogans in praise of Islam and Prophet Mohammed.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the religious procession and the traffic on Janipur route was diverted via Sarwal, Patoli and Paloura Top.
At the conclusion of procession, at Ramzanpora mosque the religious scholars threw light on the significance of the day and life history of Prophet Mohammed.
They said Islam teaches peace, brotherhood and communal harmony and not violence. They said Islam and Prophet have always sided with oppressed and suppressed people in the world and fought for their rights.
Young scholar Hafiz Nisar Sultan while addressing the gathering said that there is no faith in Islam if there is no love for holy Prophet. Moreover, merely chanting of slogans isn’t sufficient but we need to practically follow the lifestyle of Prophet, he added.
Another speaker, Moulana Hafiz Mohammed Tabrez while speaking on the occasion advised the Muslims to follow Islam in practical life and spread this message among others also.
The religious scholars appealed the gathering to act on the teachings of Islam and Prophet Mohammed.
Another procession was taken from Patyain Mohalla Chowadhi and after passing through Gujjar Colony, Malik Market, Narwal Chowk Jamia Masjid  Kiryani Talab, Kargi Colony, Jamia Masjid Unar Mohammad Palessar, Bathindi Central Chowk, Vidhata Nagar and other markets it culminated at Eidgah Sunjwa road Jammu.
A large number of members of Muslim community including men, women and children carrying religious flags and banners in their hands participated in the procession.
Eid-Milad-Ul-Nabi was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety in other parts of the Jammu region too. In Kathua an impressive religious procession was taken on the occasion of Eid-Milad-Ul-Nabi. The procession started from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park Kathua and after passing through various parts of the Kathua town it concluded at Jamia Masjid.
The participants in the procession were carrying poster banners with religious messages in their hands and raising slogans in praise of Islam and Prophet.
Giving religious discourses the Imam Jamia Masjid said that Prophet Mohammed has given the message to create trust among the people and not to cheat the faith of any one.
He also prayed for peace and prosperity of country especially in Kashmir and defeat of enemy creating disturbances there.
Another procession was taken out at Rajouri in which thousands of members of Muslim community participated. The procession started from Talab Masjid Bazar and passed through Gujjar Chowk and culminated at Eid Gah where Moulana Mufti Iqbal Ahmed from UP gave the religious discourses and threw light on the life history of Prophet Mohammed . The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for religious procession including that of security. DC Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat , SSP Rajouri, Suliman Choudhary and Commandant IRP Mohammed Farid were escorting the procession personally.
In connection with celebration of Eid-Mild-Ul-Nabi a religious procession was also taken out from various places of Mendhar tehsil which started from Jamia Masjid Mendhar and passed through the main Bazar Mendhar. It culminated at Bus Stand Mendhar later.
The people who participated in the procession raised slogans in praise of Islam and Prophet who they said has taught peace, brotherhood and unity without caste, creed and colour. The participants in the procession said that their main purpose was to spread message of peace, brotherhood and communal harmony.
Moulana Mohammed Sultan Naqshbandi, Mufti Haqnawaz Khan, Moulana Mushtaq Qadri and others participated in the procession.
