VIJAYPUR, Jan 9: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary, Manjit Singh has appealed the Central Government to enhance compensation of Displaced Persons (DPs) of Jammu and Kashmir as per the recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
As per a press statement, Congress leader and former Minister chaired a meeting with the DPs at village Partap Singh Pura in Ramgarh where he interacted with the farmers and DPs and listened to their grievances.
Singh said that the DPs were concerned over the half hearted efforts of the central Government in resolving their issue of long pending compensation. Citing concerns of the DPs, he said, the Government should consider their demand and enhance the compensation amount from Rs 5.5 lakhs to Rs 30 lakhs per family.
He said that the government should not take affidavits from the DPs and clear it publically whether it is full and final compensation or rest is yet to come.
“What is final compensation amount,” he asked Government to explain to clear doubts among the DPs.
He said that the Government should also constitute a Board for the welfare of DPs.
