SRINAGAR, Sept 4:  Pleading to PDP-BJP Government not to discontinue the services of National Youth Corps (NYC) volunteers, senior PCC leader and MLA Inderwal,  G M Saroori today said that Government must honour the Cabinet decision regarding absorption of NYCs.
Mr Saroori met and talked to protesting NYC volunteers who are on hunger strike at Pratap Park, Srinagar. He strongly demanded that Government must honour the Cabinet order. He asked the State Government to come clean on the issue and decide the fate of thousands of youth who have been unnecessarily discontinued from their services.  He said that the Government has put the future of 6000 youth in jeopardy.
“PDP-BJP devises new schemes but what about the NYC volunteers who were compelled to take to streets after being discontinued from services. Government talks much about the future of youth but at the same time, they have closed down options for youth to live peacefully,” Saroori said while addressing the protesters.
Saroori said that the permanent engagement of 6000 NYCs, working voluntarily in different departments, was decided in a Cabinet meeting by the previous National Conference-Congress Coalition Government vide order number 192/CIR/2014 dated 22 October 2014 and secretary Education vide number 737-EDU of 2014 be implemented in letter and spirit. The youth were taken as contingent workers in School Education Department against the vacancies which were created when previous Government announced up gradation of 800 schools to their higher levels.
Expressing serious concern over deteriorating health of NYC volunteers and  insensitive attitude of the administration, the MLA  said  the Government should not  politicize future of youth for political interests and it must chalk out a comprehensive plan to address the menacing problem of unemployment.
Saroori urged the State Government to decide the fate of thousands of NYC youth who are demanding justice and demanded the Government to implement it as early as possible.
NYC Union president Asif Ali Bhat and other members of NYC also addressed and threatened to continue the strike till the Government comes forward and addresses their grievances.
