Iknoor lifts Sub Jr girls title, Akhilesh wins Jr boys final

JAMMU, Oct 11: Trouncing her rival convincingly in the summit clash, promising paddler, Iknoor Kour lifted the Sub girls title, while Akhilesh and Ojaswin claimed the Jr boys and Sr boys boys titles respectively in the 4th 11 Sports Interschool Table Tennis Championships, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Davinder Singh Rana, MLA Nagrota witnessed the final matches as a chief guest and distributed the prizes amongst the winners in the valedictory function.
He also encouraged the youth of the state to take up sports. He further hailed the efforts of the organisers for organising such tournaments which will benefit young players and also help in gaining popularity for the sport in the state.
Earlier, in Sub Jr Boys Final, Rohan Langer beat Aarit Bargotra 3-1, while in Sub Jr Girls Final, Iknoor drubbed Hargun 3-1.
In Jr Boys Final, Akhilesh trounced Maanay 3-0, while in Jr Girls Final, Suhani got the better of Vidushi 3-2 and in Sr Boys Final,
Ojaswin outplayed Koustav 3-1 to lift the title.
Earlier, in the semifinals of the Jr Boys Category, Maanay defeated Lakshay 3-0 and Akhliesh got better of Saksham Verma by 3-2.
The matches were officiated by Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra (NIS Table Tennis coach), Gurvinder Singh Sasan (NIS Coach), Meenu Rajesh & Asad Sharma (Coach), Manandeep Singh, Ritvik Gupta, Ketan and Anuj.
Prominent among those who were present included Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra and Sanjeev Gupta.
