IGP stresses on enforcement of rule of law

SRINAGAR, Feb 20: Inspector General of Police Kashmir (IGP), Swayam Prakash Pani today visited North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and held darbars with jawans and officers.
A Police spokesman said that during the darbar, the IGP underlined the need for application of due procedure of law and ensured that people are taken on board in policing matters of public importance.
He asked the officers to dedicate themselves to public service and assured that the department will take all possible steps for welfare of policemen working in difficult circumstances.
IGP while appreciating the efforts done by Baramulla and Sopore police in ensuring peace and security of people, exhorted them to put in place systems and mechanisms to consolidate these efforts for long term public good.
IGP asked the men on ground to treat juveniles with compassion and asked for speeding up steps to establish juvenile units in Police Stations. He also stressed for juvenile police officer as per the requirement of the law in Police Stations for better handling of these cases.
IGP emphasized the need of quality investigation of criminal cases to build public trust and confidence in policing system and also thanked state government and DGP J&K for fulfilling long term demands of policemen with regard to their promotions, housing, and enhancements of ex-gratia relief.
