KATRA, Sept 19: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Dr SD Singh today reviewed the security at the Katra base camp and the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in view of Navratra festival scheduled to start on Thursday.
The IGP chaired a meeting of police officers at Katra and later visited the venues of the programmes to be held during the festival to take stock of the security arrangements, a police spokesman said. He said the Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi and Additional Superintendent of Police, Katra have been directed to ensure that comprehensive deployment is made to maintain law and order and communal harmony.
Singh also asked for close watch over the activities of “anti national, anti-social and other disgruntled elements”. It was impressed upon the participants to ensure that nakas deployed around Katra Town are fully strengthened to ensure effective checking/frisking round the clock and Joint Quick Reactions Teams of the CRPF and police deployed on all entry points to react immediately in case of any exigency.
District SSP concerned was directed to dominate the outer periphery of Katra town, Trikuta Hills adjoining Bhawan area by way of regular patrolling.
The meeting amongst others was attended by Virender Sharma, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Tahir Bhat, SSP Reasi, Naresh Singh, Additional SP Katra, Ashok Sharma, Deputy SP, SDPO Katra, Sachin Gupta, Deputy SP Bhawan and SHO PS Katra, Inspector Arvind Sambyal besides representatives of paramilitary Forces.
