JAMMU, Apr 15: The auction of cricketing extravaganza Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL), 2015 was held at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, here today.
IGP Jammu, Danish Rana was the chief guest on the occasion, who in presence of DIG Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig; SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand; AIG Welfare PHQ, Rajeshwer Singh; SSP Rajnish Pran; SP Hqrs Randhir Singh and Deputy Director Prosecution RPHQ, Parshotam Sharma, declared the auction open in an impressive, well attended and colourful function.
The chief guest while speaking on the occasion said that the main idea of conducting this League is to provide platform to the cricketers of the State to hone their skill, especially the cricketers from remote areas, besides involving more and more youths in sports to enhance Police-Public relationship.
He thanked the sponsors and the owners for being part of this mega cricket league. During the auction maximum current Ranji players and Local players were bought by the owners, which added colour to the bidding process.
Earlier, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu and General Secretary of theTournament presented welcome address, wherein he lauded the approach of the cricketing fraternity for participating in an enthusiastic manner.
Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy player and Organizing Secretary of the League presented the brief report of the League and threw light on the rules of the auction and the League as well.
The proceedings of the auction were conducted by anchors Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
Apart from the current and former Ranji Trophy players, the local players-Satish Kumar, Gagandeep Singh and Kuldeep Kumar were bought by the owners for Rs 15,000 each.
Meanwhile, after the bidding process was complete, the teams comprising of 16 players each were formed.
