IGP asks police personnel to be polite but firm

JAMMU, Jan 30: Be polite but firm with  duty and lending helping hand to the needy, poor and deserving should be the priority agenda of Police personnel vis-à-vis maintaining law and order. This was stated by the Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Jammu, Danesh Rana while addressing a massive  Darbar of officers /jawans   held by District Police Jammu at District Police Lines Jammu here this afternoon.
Danesh Rana who presided over the Darbar of Officers and Jawans of District Police Jammu in DPL here was accompanied by DIG Jammu Ashkoor Ahmed Wani , SSP Jammu  Dr.Sunil Gupta and  SP Hqrs. Jammu R.C.Kotwal.
IGP complimented the officers and Jawans present in the Darbar for ensuring peaceful conduct of Republic Day   functions -2017 and  congratulated them that despite all odds and difficult  circumstances and continuous long duties, there was no Human Rights violation, collateral damage and any major militancy related incident.
Detailed interaction was held with officers and Jawans about their problems and other welfare measures.  Individual and common issues concerning the welfare of Officers and Jawans were heard as this provided an opportunity to all the Officers and Jawans to vent their grievances and problems before the IGP.  Rana gave a patient hearing  to their grievances  and  assured them that their problems will be solved . However, some   problems were projected by jawans relating   to their welfare ,  for which IGP issued on spot directions to Police officers present in the meeting.
While addressing the Officers and Jawans, IGP directed the officers to promptly respond to the public complaints and be friendly with the people. They were asked to maintain complete impartiality and remain polite in their public dealings with firm duty.
IGP Jammu called for synergising Police- Public partnership groups and directed the territorial officers to conduct regular meetings with the general public in their area of responsibility. He stressed upon the district officers to reach out to the common people particularly in the remote and border areas and seek their invaluable cooperation and assistance in curbing the menace of infiltration and checking the movement of terrorists and maintenance of communal harmony and brotherhood. The senior officers of the district were asked to personally address these meetings and educate the people on fighting the menace of terrorism, drug abuse and other social evils prevailing in the society.
