Identify habitual offenders of NDPS: DIG to officers

JAMMU, Jan 16: DIG DKR Range Bhim Sen Tuti directed the officers to identify the habitual offenders of NDPS in their respective jurisdictions so that legal proceedings can be initiated against them.
DIG further directed the officers to have watch on all the elements involved in dealing with narcotic smuggling in their respective jurisdictions and take strict action against them.
He stated this during a meeting to discuss the crime scenario in the DKR range as well as to lay emphasis on quality investigation and proper supervision of cases in his office chamber. In the meeting, law and order situation in the DKR range was also discussed.
The meeting was attended by Rajinder Gupta, SSP Kishtwar, Mohammad Shabir Malik, SSP Doda, Anita Sharma, SSP Ramban, Kishore Kumar Bandral, CPO Doda, Jaswant Raj SPO Ramban, Mansoor Ahmed SPO Kishtwar, Shoket Ali, DySP SO to DIG DKR Range
DIG DKR Range apprised the participants that the main objective of the meeting is to discuss the ways and means required to be adopted by the investigating officers for effective investigation of cases in order to increase the conviction rate.
He directed all SSPs to monitor the investigation of the cases professionally and follow the SOP laid down by PHQ as well as take expert advice from prosecuting officers. Special emphasis was laid on improving the quality of investigation as well as proper supervision of cases right from registration of FIR till production of challan before the Court of Law.
DIG issued detailed instructions to all the participants attending the meeting on spot and directed them to have close supervision over investigation in their respective Police Stations especially in special reported cases and investigate them professionally.
He further directed the participants that while producing challan before the court of law, they should ensure that the chargesheet is scrutinized legally by the Chief Prosecuting Officers/Senior Prosecuting Officers have verified with comments that the same is fit to be produced in the court of law for trial, so that the conviction rate is increased.
