ICICI Lombard settles over 6,000 employees’ medical claims in J&K

JAMMU, Jan 27: The Jammu & Kashmir Government Group Medical Insurance Scheme, managed by ICICI Lombard, recorded a 35 per cent growth in enrolment in three years from 18,102 employees to 24,356 employees. The insurance company has settled over 6,000 claims so far during this period.
Over the last three years, ICICI Lombard’s group medical insurance scheme in partnership with the J&K Government, has increased penetration of health insurance among state employees. The policy covers medical expenses up to Rs 5 lakh for employees and their family members who include spouse, children, parents as well as in-laws.
In 2016, parents and in-laws were the biggest beneficiaries of the J&K Government Group Medical Insurance Scheme, accounting for 44 per cent of the total claims settled in 2016-17. Spouses accounted for 29 per cent of claims. In terms of age, 40 per cent of claims were settled for insured in the age group of 56-75 years, followed by 32 per cent in the 36-55 year bracket.
Since 2014, employees from State and autonomous bodies including the Shrine Board, Sher-e-Kashmir University (SKUAST) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra have been enrolled in the scheme.
